Missionary Experiences: Elder Lawrence John Glavinic

 Date: 4-24-64 Boy, I have been facing many challenges lately. I just wish that I could do a better job with each one. However, we have been talking with some very very nice people. I think that the Lord has been saving these people for us. There are so many fine people- yes, there are also many that are a "little out of it" But we have been talking to a large number of Italian as well as German People Elder May and I have been getting along quite well. I find many times that he knows more about the Gospel than I. However, I try to make the best out of it, and learn as much as I can without "losing face". My Italian doesn't seem to be progressing lately. Yes I've been giving discussion in this language and all, but I just don't have the polish that I had with German.  Date: 4-09-64 Well, this week with the President here proved quite interesting. I think I'm somewhat of a skeptic with respect to a lot of religious ideas, but this last week sort of shook them. I'm sure that the people we talked to could feel the spirit and power of our President. During the conference that followed his visit just about all said they had more success when the President was with them than they would usually of had. The President worked with us in our evening work. We had a couple o meetings. The president decided to go with my companion since he hadn't worked with him before. My companion said that he had given the best first discussion in his life with the president there. He said he was really filled with the spirit. However, I and the second counselor weren't about to be out done.
