MISSION WIDE CONFERENCE

People Present: All of the Swiss Mission and Apostle Benson

Time: 9am    Place: Zurich 

Procedure:

1. Opening Remarks by Pres Russon: (a) results of question sent out with respect to mission goals (b) set new goals analogy with Moses and the House of Israel: we need faith

2. Sister Russon: she feels like a real mother to us. She would like to help each one of us with the little things that are important

3. President and Sister Doxey- central states mission: (a) "I don't think I've seen a better looking group. They seem to get younger and better looking"

    *Story: Man in communications field. In News office: Need photographer to take a picture of important man arriving from Europe. Took pictures. Took long time  to develop. Why? When he was small, his mother read stories of Bible Prophets. the Man said, " I've seen a prophet and have been taking and developing thirty pictures that I took of Him." Radiate the light (b)He who is great must be the servant of all.  

4. Story about getting a picture of socialite difficulty by professional photographers. So called in club photographers. Who returned in an hour with pictures. To the astonishment of the Chief Educator, so the Editor asked how he did it and he said, " I went to the house to ask for pictures and got them" It is a matter of approach! Sometimes we create our own problems. Have faith and do your duty.

5. President Detweiler/Schweizer: be honest when speaking to the people. 

6. New second counselor: Schilling: all things are possible to us if we will work like "heck" while the time lasts. Show thankfulness for the ability to be here. Do what you can with what you've got, that's what counts"

9. Benson: Greatest business; you cannot fail (b) Paul on Mars Hill statue to unknown god! Saving the children on Man. All make report 1,2&3 Presidents make both verbal and written. Success measures how we measure up to his gospel no baptisms. How can we best spend our time? Peter Whitmer answer given. Most important is to declare repentance to the people of the world. Strange feeling while hearing him. Said" you can't measure your work. Many seeds may be planted." The most beautiful experience is to be magnified beyond your present capacity. Sweet feeling that comes when you are magnified. It has appeal because it is a full rich program. It has appeal because it's the truth. It has appeal because it is the work of the lord. Praise before criticism. Read every Monday d&c 1:5, d&c84: assurance that you cannot fail. Be Hard Working: personal testimony, humility full of love, love of people, be an example. Need to be wise as serpents and save as a dove! Parents would reather have you come home in a box than dishonored. We want you to live without regrets. 

AFTERNOON SESSION

1. President Lauener: Other churches get 2-5% attendances. Mormon church 50% attendance of total membership. Relates conversion experience

2. Sister Lauener: She was catholic changed to protestant but still not satisfied until found the restored gospel. 

3. Bird's eye view of mission: Zweifel- sister district. make second counselor avoid problems of getting up at 6am with T.E. (b) Castel: need to consult Lord in all of our deals (c) Camberlang- left half of district off map; program started fourth of may 1963 with four elders. worked 7 weeks in Basel to start. Difficulty to register at first in Tessin. With 3 member to start with. First meeting in Tessin 29 June1963. (d) Orten-Basel, Bern, Zurich, Mission Home. (e) Circus, a strong man said to another man, "squeeze another from from that lemon for $100" so that man got a drop out of the lemon, then the strong man as asked, "who are you? where did you learn that?: well it was President Russon. He leaned it in Switzerland from working with Elders. (f) Anderson- flexibility in approach-analysis of problems encountered in first lesson (baden) (g) Baird, Basel 200,000 (h) Molten, Bern 200,000 Zodikofen, 60,000 (i) Keiger, Beil (j) Robinson, Luzern, Largely catholic (k) Henderickson, Orten, problem branch (l) Hart, Rhein, not many members, good sports program (m) Carlson, Solothurn, what we should do vs what we are doing (n) Sant Gallon enjoyed every minute of it. 5. Benson: He that expects nothing will not be disappointed. He that shoots at something may miss, but he that shoots at nothing hits it.  Patient: I've been having a problem; I can't remember anything.  Doctor: How long have you had this problem Patient: What problem? ** Missionary story the greatest drama that ever existed. Get kind of a hurt in your throat. He relates story of his life very easy to identify. ** Men of the Cloth, I remember years ago. Sons of Mosiah, rather be a missionary than a king (alma 17) Health- don't worry, word of wisdom 2/3 positive.
