Well, in a small way I guess my wish has come true. The week after the President came down and worked with us; the whole district was experiencing transfers. We all seemed to be playing musical chairs though! However, I was quite happy. I think the transfer did both my old companion and me some good. My new companion's name is Mascaro. His Dad came from southern Italy. Therefore, he is a little more sincere about his work than my previous companion. We have been working together for the last 11 days and seem to be getting along quite well, with few exceptions. Last week, we had an interesting experience while tracting. I guess we annoyed someone a little so they called the police. Then about an hour later we found ourselves in the police station being questioned lie common criminals. But they let us go with no restraints.

Also, this last Saturday, I made my first trip to Italy. I went down with my companion as he went to visit some of his relatives before Christmas. It was quite interesting because they speak mostly dialect (Calabrese) and it was hard to understand. His relatives really fed us well. I couldn't' eat anymore! They weren't' rich, more on the poor side but very very hospitable.

I've been really getting the Christmas cards. It makes you feel like you are wanted when sometimes you wonder with all the reception you get. It's good to know that you have such good people behind you. Most of the cards have been from my old S.P. ward but not to say that the C.M. ward hasn't sent any. They are keeping in touch with me in good style also. I've been getting good financial support from them too. Something like $45 from the C.CM. group and $30 from the S.P. group. It's much appreciated.

I received a nice color picture from Penny for Christmas also. It's kind of hard to keep your mind on the Lord's work with such a nice girl at home, but I sure am enjoying the Lord's work.

We finally got a stove in our small Branch this last Sunday. We went down early to warm-up the Branch house. It took a little time to get the old pot bellied stove warm, but once it got warm, it certainly did a good job. This last Sunday was our Christmas service. My companion is 2nd counselor in the Branch bishopric representation, therefore he has Branch assignments. Fore example, these last Christmas Sunday services were his responsibility. He did a fine service. It is not easy! The Branch Bishop was away, therefore he had to do it all. All the Elders in the District took part from singing to preaching. More later!

BUON NATALE!
