Well, the track meet went off like clock work. Before the meet, the night before the Italians had a banquet for the ATHLETICS OF BYU. It was a nice dinner after which the head of the Italian athletic organization. Galletto Mario gave a little speech. Then, Coach Robison said a few words. They exchanged presents. The Italians gave cuff-links and BYU's coach gave them patches with school emblem. The following day, they arranged a bus to take the team to see the lake of Como and then to Bergamo to see the stadium. The meet couldn't have been held better night. However it had rained about four hours before for about an hour which scared away many people at least 2,000. The meet saw the attendance of only about 1000 spectators. BYU won 66-41. It could have been a closer meet had the Italian 4x100 relay team not exchanged the baton out side of the change zone. Also, many Italian athletics didn't come because of exams. But all in all, it was a good meet.
The newspapers didn't write anything about the Church other than to mention that they were of the Mormon University of Utah.
Last night we had a little excitement. Brother Vassel and Barton baptized a family of three. The only thing was that we had a baptismal font on the third floor of an apartment house. We were scared!! I used all my technical background to find the safest place for the font. It workout out real well though. We had opening remarks, a song, talk, baptism, talk on the Holy Ghost, song, prayer. Well I guess that is the start of the work in Varese. Transfers took place the following day. I got Brother Vassel as a Junior because he'll probably be the next zone Leader. He is a good man with a lot of drive. I believe with his help we can baptize several people here in Milan.
