Well, another hectic week. This time it was from my own family. The week started out very well. Our golden investigator sister Badker was baking good progress. We had an M&M meeting with Sister Gayer. We showed the "Hill Cumorah" slides. Then later in the week we gave her the fourth lesson. Think if we get her to baptism. That she will be baptized shortly there after.
What made me mad was I received a letter from my Dad. in this letter he said several things that upset me. First he said, " I think that two years is enough for anyone if you were studying electronics that would be another story" I didn't think my Dad has the authority to tell me what is right and wrong. It is a question of whether that's an opinion of men or from God. I know who asked me to come over here for two and a half years. My dare Dad would have been better off if he would keep his mouth shut!! I don't respect his advice. Then in my last letter I wrote and told him what I though about him coming to Europe. He disregarded all of my suggestions. Well, I will laugh when he starts swearing because of the crazy European drivers. But what brought it to a climax was not his talk about two years or disregarding my suggestions, it was a small statement about my old girlfriend. He said, "The phone rang and a girl asked if Larry was at home" He asked who it was and she said Penny in a squeaky voice. He also said, "there was a noisy background a laughter like a rough party. then he hang up. This was just what I didn't want to know anything about it. If she had gotten into that stuff I didn't want to know about it. I have enough problems here but my dad was turning the screws. Just for spite I don't think I will address anymore letters to him. Maybe that will "shape him up" in a shrewd way.
The week ended on a good not though. We (the Basel 1 District) took a trip to the Berner Oberland. We went right into the Alps and we aw the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau. It was very beautiful. We were at Lautenrunner where we took some pictures of some of the typical Swiss, Street cleaners, and kids. Then we took "seil Bahn: to Mannlichen- walked to Klein Scheidegg and came down, we also several glacier slides too.
We also hit a pretty nice fashion show with sister Ess. She modeled. She worked it out real so this you Fraulen sat with us so we wouldn't look to far out of place. Her name was Frau Leugering. Shew as about as quiet as a mouse. Becker and I were asking her questions all the time to keep her talking. It was a real nice show we saw styles from Doir, Lanvin, & D'Ateleir. It was really a first for me and Becker. They shoed a lot of coats made of wool suits, then finished off with evening gowns. The show was presented by M. Schaub and the materials were from Abraham. The House of Israel is everywhere.
