DISTRICT CONFERENCE

Place: Paradiso, Lugano      people present: Pres. Russon, Pres Wood, and 10 elders from the district

PROCEDURE: 

1. Opening remarks from District Leader Camberlang

2. Prayer

3. Tolley: (a) talk about purpose and being more successful (b) D&C 11:3, 2:3 (c) Definition of belief: these should bring out the best in people, many people have so-called belief (d) Methods in finding people (e) Be more thorough, DO A BETTER JOB! (f) Follow up on C.B.'s  

4. Camberlang: (a) Can you write your name and purpose? Your aim and ideal for being? (b) Man is here to choose. If a man doesn't have two choices to choose from he can't choose. In four places in the Bible is says that we are either good (hot) or bad (cold). Don't be spewed out of his mouth! (c) Golden investigator bow- fill it up! And it will fill you up. Fill it up and FOLLOW UP.

5. President Russon: (a) Book of Mormon- middle of march (b) German Elders learning second discussion, 3 weeks then they are made seniors. (c) In all the getting, get going! Find new ways! Throw=50 sling=100 bow=350 gun powder=1000 TNT=5000 Nuclear Fission= 250000 (d) Confucius- the journey of a thousand steps begins with one. (e) Habits analogy: Habits are like webs so slight to be noticed until they can't be broken. (f) One missionary was excommunicated because of not keeping his virtue- married girl-too bad. (g) Get your sleef- D&C 88 (h) don't find fault.

May 3rd. President Russon will be here from Italy. 

6. President Wood: (a) If man doesn't believe in God, ask him why? What does he believe in? Purpose to life? Universe analogy: when asked where does God come from  everyone changed the course of the discussion to the question: Is there a god of not? (b) Need for baptism: Why was JC Baptized? john3:5 Jesus Christ thought it necessary yet he was perfect. Then ask him why the restoration was necessary. (c) Apostasy: reason, history, scriptures. (d) Vernon Law-pitcher for Braves, 60 world series, had a book full of sayings that he had collected over the years. While being interviewed by TV, a man asked about this book and asked if he could hear a couple of these thoughts. Vernon said, "I only can remember one " There is no I in Team" We must work together."

 Date: 12-31-64 CHRISTMAS CONFERENCE People Present: Whole mission 119 (last year 193) Time: 9am   Place: Zollikofen  Procedure: 1. President Russon: Nieksen-goes with Tulley to Lebanon. Future of the mission: (a) no more co-senior companionships (b) no more 2nd counselor missionaries (c) Future only 50 senior companions (d) Zone Conference Jan 28 with personal interview with Benson (e) Few district outings (f) Assistants to President: Whipple and Mariott **Chastisement: word of wisdom, sports, trips, be truthful with self. "Far more men fail from ignorance of their strength rather than knowledge of their weakness." possessions of man dilute the spirit.  2. May 24th, 1963

  Date: 5-24-63 Interesting Experience- called the mission home yesterday to have Elder McCune bring the other pair of pants to my suit, that I bought from him, down to the missionary conference. I said, “Is Elder McCune there?” the mission president, Russon, answered and said “no”. Then asked me a question in German. It really startled me. I was caught speechless for a minute not knowing whether to answer of not; and if so, should I try in German? He repeated the question in German. This time I understood. “Wer ist diese? Or “who is this?” I answered in English. I finally got the message across \but it really brought the realism of how little German I do know. I imagine we will hear something today in conference about making English off limits. Yesterday, we also went out to do a little “Umfraging” or surveying. I didn’t even know the questions.
