3. President Russon- (a) Christmas conference Dec. 30, 1963 (1) Go to the temple (2) meeting (b) New Elders companions given (c) World's fair exhibit in New York with reference to Church exhibit. (d) Letter from first Presidency about return home of missionaries. (1) Return in 30 days (2) Stake President given the release. You will receive it when you return home and talk with Stake President.

4. Dismissal of "here say" about getting married 6 months after you have returned home (proper time)

7. Harold B. Lee; Example: never explain because friends don't need it and enemies wouldn't believe you. (a) The church wasn't first established with Jesus Christ. It has been here since the time of Adam. 1. Definition- when someone here on the earth with authority to save souls, then the church is on the earth. 2. He that does the work of today with the tools of yesterday will go out of business! 3. analogy- completeness of gospel-compared to just buying the steering wheel of a car. not the whole of the car. 4. Story- about meeting group of Presbyterian ministers. Couldn't Run! Joseph Smith story-Do you have a true testimony that your church is the only true church here on the Earth (Apostasy/ Restoration) Do you alone always have the Lord with you by having the spirit around you. Pray and Fast. (A) Bell is not a bell until you ring it. A song is not a song until you sing it. Love is not love until you give it away. So with the principles of the Gospel: Tithing, chastity, etc. (B) Civil rights-color of blood. Since days of Abraham from God it is decreed "Why doesn't the Lord change his police?" VOL II p. 438-430 Church History (Abraham 1:25-27) Extend analogy, Do you give all men the Priesthood? Do you give women the Priesthood? (A) JFS Moses 3&4 council in heaven, 1/3 rebelled. Relative position of our relationship in this life from life before. New Apostles- Name of the church (3rd Nephi 27) My gospel. Principles of the gospel are always the same but the methods of presentation are not fixed. Rules and Methods are our own. Savior said women with 7 husbands error not knowing the power of God (priesthood_ binding when done by priesthood.

Future of the mission: (a) no more co-senior companionships (b) no more 2nd counselor missionaries (c) Future only 50 senior companions (d) Zone Conference Jan 28 with personal interview with Benson (e) Few district outings (f) Assistants to President: Whipple and Mariott **Chastisement: word of wisdom, sports, trips, be truthful with self. "Far more men fail from ignorance of their strength rather than knowledge of their weakness." possessions of man dilute the spirit.  2. May 24th, 1963

  Date: 5-24-63 Interesting Experience- called the mission home yesterday to have Elder McCune bring the other pair of pants to my suit, that I bought from him, down to the missionary conference. I said, “Is Elder McCune there?” the mission president, Russon, answered and said “no”. Then asked me a question in German. It really startled me. I was caught speechless for a minute not knowing whether to answer of not; and if so, should I try in German? He repeated the question in German. This time I understood. “Wer ist diese? Or “who is this?” I answered in English. I finally got the message across \but it really brought the realism of how little German I do know. I imagine we will hear something today in conference about making English off limits. Yesterday, we also went out to do a little “Umfraging” or surveying. I didn’t even know the questions.
