I have an interesting story to tell. It all started out on Tuesday evening. The next day I realized that I would be giving the first discussion to an investigator that appeared to be real good. Wanting to do a good job, I planned to study that seeing after we got in. I went into the "head" and there is where I studied. After reciting the first a couple of times, I thought I would go to bed so I went back to our room, but the door was locked. I had forgotten my key! Well, it wasn't too late, I figured so I banged on the door. No one answered then I rang the door bell. Still no on answered. Being that there was a clock across the street I looked out the front door to see what time it was. Yes, it was 1;30am. the thing that puzzled me was that the light was still on in our room. My companion must have gone to sleep with it on. Well, I thought he will surely wake-up with the light on during the night and see that I'm not there and open the door because it was too late to wake up the " Padrone" (landlord) So I banged on the door with little success.
I then decided to go back to the "Head" and try to learn the second discussion. I must have studied two hours when I tried a second time to awaken my companion but still, he was sound asleep. So back to the "head" to study. It was getting cold also; it was luck that I had my heavy sweater on. Finally it was 6am. It was a long night!! The "Padrone's" was going to work. I asked her is she would get the key to the door because I had forgotten mine. She got the key and let mine. I thought my retiring and arising time for that day would look a bit "funny" on my weekly report to the President. Anyway, as I entered the room the light was still on and m companion was awakened on my entry. I said, " I'm going to bed see you in three hours' M companion was startled not knowing what had happened, he then looked at his watch and said " but it's only 6am!" I said, " I'll explain after" and crawled into bed.
I got up at 9am surprisingly rested and continued with a regular day of work. However, my feet were a little tired I guess form standing banging on the door. I've learned my lesson. I will never forget my key again!! The week proceeded much as usual with one interesting note. The man, that I gave the first discussion, turned out to be "GOLDEN".
Oops! I pretty nearly forgot that Halloween was this week. If it hadn't been for a nice card from Penny. It sort of makes me feel a little bad because I didn't send her one, but I don't have enough money ( rationalization) But I did find a real nice gift for my Dad for Christmas. Ever since I was a little boy, I can remember my dad talking of the European way so enviously. The strict way of life. The old men being respected and there mannerisms. Ex. their mustaches and those rigid poses. Anyway, I found this little wood doll that depicted these characteristics so nicely. It had hands being the back and a large belly.
