 Well, we have had a pretty eventful week. Between the Haus Frau and the Italians you just don't know what's going to happen next. 

I guess it all started when we bought a 100 watt bulb to replace the 25 watt bulb in our room. The darn house Frau will do anything to save a few rapps. Even if tit means losing your eye sight. I was really upset this cheap and swiss house frau, but my companion held me back until my temper cooled a little. Then, Frau, during the day when we were working came in to change the bulb from a 100 watt to a 60 watt. But again my companion held me back from telling the house frau off. Advising me that we at least were better off with a 60 watt in comparison to a 25 watt bulb. But the darn house Frau stole our light bulb! The Swiss are perhaps the cheapest people in the world. 

Anyway, after the ruckus with the light bulb died down, what do we find but one of the Italians that also live up here with us, had stolen Elder Workmann's umbrella. Boy, that was about it. The next morning however, the umbrella was back. It didn't leave us with a very secure leaving with respect to our personal tings in as much as we didn't have a key to our room. All I can say is if just one more thing happens, we are going to move. Personally, I'm all set to move already but my companion is a little hesitant.  a, rooms are a little hard to find. But you can only lose so much pride. I guess you can tell that I'm not to happy with my present companion. I think he is a real " dink" But then part of that is due to the fact that I'm a little jealous because I don't know as much as he does. It is a real humbling experience.

Future of the mission: (a) no more co-senior companionships (b) no more 2nd counselor missionaries (c) Future only 50 senior companions (d) Zone Conference Jan 28 with personal interview with Benson (e) Few district outings (f) Assistants to President: Whipple and Mariott **Chastisement: word of wisdom, sports, trips, be truthful with self. May 24th, 1963

  Date: 5-24-63 Interesting Experience- called the mission home yesterday to have Elder McCune bring the other pair of pants to my suit, that I bought from him, down to the missionary conference. I said, “Is Elder McCune there?” the mission president, Russon, answered and said “no”. Then asked me a question in German. It really startled me. I was caught speechless for a minute not knowing whether to answer of not; and if so, should I try in German? He repeated the question in German. This time I understood. “Wer ist diese? Or “who is this?” I answered in English. I finally got the message across \but it really brought the realism of how little German I do know. I imagine we will hear something today in conference about making English off limits. Yesterday, we also went out to do a little “Umfraging” or surveying. I didn’t even know the questions.
