I packed everything up and went and said goodbye to as many of our investigators as it was possible in the short time that I had. I jumped on the train and was in Zurich in about an hour where I was supposed to meet with the mission president and some of the other elders. The President was going to drive us down. While there we would have a conference. Anyway there were four new elders along with President, his wife, and the second counselor. That could have been an expensive transfer, especially since I didn't have any money-- check hadn't come. but riding down was nice. It was a shame that the day wasn't nicer. It rained most of the way down. We went through the Gotthard Tunnel about 6pm that evening with the train. We pulled into Lugano at about 7.30pm there we met with the elders that were already there. They had a room for us for the night.
That night I slept in the same room with another Elder who had a background much similar to mine. He was also an E.E. (electrical engineer) so we had a real good talk about our fields of study and how the Gospel of Jesus Christ had affected our lives and especially what it means to us or you might say " Why are you on a mission?"
The next morning we studied a little Italian which was the first time for both of us. Bu the way, his name was Tolley. He was about 26. No young kid. Anyway, after our short study we went and got the other two elders that were sleeping at the same place that night and had breakfast. It was the first time these new boys had yogurts. They liked them quite well. A short time later the DL came and picked us up and took us down to the Germeinde Haus for the Conference.
