Just finished my 3rd week as a missionary. This last week I have been giving the door approach. It truly is interesting to meet the people of Switzerland. It surely is true what has been said. (that the people are very cautious about new people and also quite independent). In our tracting because we announce ourselves as Americans, we meet many people who have been or once lived in the states. We also meet many English people. Today, we met this Australian gal who was a Pacifist. One of Brother Russel’s followers. Her and her Swiss husband were busy in their ‘cause of peace’ as they put it. They were quite alert of the United Nation’s endeavors to bring this about. We gave her the screening discussion about Mormonism. This, to me, is the vehicle we should use in my opinion to bring peace to the world because in it are the areas where people can use their God-given talents. This would obviously avoid the problem of idle minds and the problem would be solved (sort of simple mindedly explained).
German still is difficult; however, I am understanding more of the conversations now.
We have been running into a lot of Jewish people. They are earnestly seeking after truth. I sort of wish we had a little literature for them because they are the chosen people and the Church can do so much for then. I just finished reading the D&C in English and it is one of the revelations given to Joseph Smith that was before the day of the coming of the lord. Two prophets would be raised up from the Jewish people assembled in Israel. What a think to look forward to!!
My new companion has really been working me hard. I hope I can get as good pace as the one is setting now. Elder Hendrickson is a good man. I sure wish he would get a motor bike. It seems so slow following him on a [regular] bike.
It is good to hear from home and know four folks and friends are concerned over you. I sure like to get letters from Penny. She’s such a good kid. I’ll just have to wait and see if she is around when I get back.
I can almost pray in German now so you can imagine some of the things I pray about (mein madchen freund) [ my girl friend]
